This will be my longest post yet. So, My Z was totaled a few months back, and i now need to purchase a car. I already have a backup car and am looking to buy a fun late night/weekend beast. I have a few cars in mind at this moment and i will list the pros and cons that way i see it.1990-1995 300ZX TT -Pros Best looking car from this list The car i know most One of the most respected cars on the road Fast Greg D is 2 hours away TT.net Only 4 quarts of oil = Cheaper oil change - Cons atleast 10 years old maintenance is a pain in the @$$ Mods are expensive because you need two of everything Common problems on higher mileage cars requires the pull of an engine or a full day project. 2 Seater Really hard to find a good Z under 15k 1998-2002 F-body - Pros Easy maintenance Parts are cheap and are available though most auto stores Can run easy 12s on Pump gas HIGHLY modifable Gets better MPG then the Z (6spd) - Cons Its a Domestic Do not like most people behind domestics Breaks down often Most of them are "beat up" Mainly, i think of domestics and imports as 2 completely different crowds and i do not wish to be a part of "this" crowd 2004-2005 Dodge NEON SRT-4 - Pros Its Brand Spanking new Really good MPG Easy and cheap to mod Can fit 5 people - Cons "Its still a Neon" a Evo is a Lancer and a STI is an impreza Have to "de-mod" the car if i wish to use my warranty Front wheel drive Also is the most expensive car on the list Bad resell value The SRT forums are full of children. 1997-1999 Eclipse GSX - Pros All wheel drive is always nice Easy Upgrade paths all the way to 10 sec 1/4 times Looks good (personal opinion) Socal is FULL of DSM specialty shops Smog is easier on AWD cars - Cons Crankwalk Its a Mitsubishi, expect something to break every week the AWD tranny isnt as strong as it should be Did i mention crankwalk? 1993-1997 Caddy STS - Pros Its a Caddy Love the way it looks 300 horsies, faster then a NA Z32 Can fit 5-6 passangers with pure luxury Voted best handling frontwheel drive seden by car and driver Real world car, when family relatives see it, they would be way more impressed then some small sports car. - Cons No Performance Upgrade Potential Headgaskets are a problem Frontwheel drive Not all that great MPG Not exactly a "weekend warrior" These are the main cars on my mind. I have to decide quick or my head is going to explode. Friends are tired of me talking about my "future" car. So far, the little neon is winning... but everytime i see a 300zx roll by i start to drool. So the main contest is between a TT or a srt.
This list was written for my own personally resource, so i wont have to keep thinking about the pros and cons. Feel free to contribute.
